Editorial policy
Eastern News Compass aims to make regional geography clear, measured and useful to read. We distinguish established information from interpretation, use careful wording where a detail is uncertain and do not present general explanations as substitutes for local knowledge.
Accuracy and context
We check names, geographical terms and descriptions against suitable published reference material before publication. Maps are useful evidence, but they are not the place itself; we avoid treating a map symbol, boundary or label as a complete account. When a statement depends on context, we explain that context rather than implying certainty.
Independence and partners
Editorial decisions are made separately from commercial arrangements. Paid placements and material produced with a partner are clearly labelled where they appear, so readers can tell them apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage or influence our conclusions.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or unclear description, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests, amend confirmed errors and make the change clear when the correction affects a reader's understanding.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be generated with AI tools. We do not present an illustrative image as documentary evidence or as a verified view of a specific place. Captions or nearby text identify generated imagery where it is used.
